What is Bima Sakhi Scheme?
LIC Bima Sakhi Scheme is a three-year stipendiary programme launched on December 9, 2024, to train women—especially from rural areas—to become LIC insurance advisors. The scheme's objective is to create employment for 1,00,000 women across India.
The word "Sakhi" means "sister" or "female friend" in Hindi, emphasizing the sisterhood and support among women participating in this program. It's a movement to increase insurance awareness, improve insurance accessibility in villages, and empower women financially.
Under this program, you'll receive comprehensive training on LIC insurance products, financial literacy tools, and policies. You'll also receive monthly stipend during the 3-year training period. After completion of 5 agency years as an advisor of LIC of India, Bima Sakhis (who are graduates and above), may participate in the recruitment process for the post of Apprentice Development Officer of LIC of India, if they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
